What You Need To Know
As a parent, we've got you covered with all the key details! From daily routines to what your child needs to bring, this section ensures you're always in the loop. Everything you need to help your little one have a great day at nursery is right here!
Security

Please ensure that you close the gate properly every time you enter and exit. The safety of our children is more important than the courtesy of allowing someone else in the gate. Do not allow strangers into our school. If in doubt, please do not allow access. Rather offer to call a staff member to assist. Please be careful if sitting in your car or while on your phone. Be aware of any strangers who may approach you in the carpark. Always ensure that your car is locked before you enter the premises.
Parent Interviews

The teachers will make appointments to interview all new parents. It is not convenient to chat to parents while we are busy with the children, but we are eager to communicate with you. Please make an appointment if you need to have a discussion with the class teacher or principal.
Clothing
Please dress your children in clothing that they can manage. Buttons, Dungarees, etc. are very difficult at this age. Please send a change of clothing in their bags daily.
Baker's Day
Every Wednesday is Baker’s Day. The children take turns to provide cookies or savoury snacks for the group. The baker sells the goodies to the other children for R2.00. Where possible children should be involved in the baking, icing or making. Please avoid the use of marshmallows as they are a choking hazard. Your child’s teacher will let you know when it is your turn. The cost of Baker’s Day is included in your Annual Membership Fee.
Birthday Celebrations

Please arrange with your child’s teacher to celebrate this special day and discuss the arrangements with her. Cupcakes, doughnuts, a cake or ice cream and cones is sufficient. Please do not send party packs.
Bringing Toys

Please do not allow your child to bring toys to school as they may get lost or broken.
Lunch

Please send a healthy lunch (sandwich, chopped fruit, cheese, cold meat, yoghurt, muffins, crackers etc) to school for your children. Please do not send sweets, chips, popcorn or cake. The children get sufficient treats from their weekly baking activity, Baker’s Day and parties at school.
Aftercare & Holiday Club

The aftercare runs on a daily basis from 13: 00 pm until 17:30 pm. Aftercare and Holiday Club can be utilised on a full time basis (including holidays) or on an ad hoc basis, as best suits you. Please contact the office for further information.
Signing Registers

Staff and security will sign your child out when collected.
School Hours

School hours are from 7:30 am until 13:00 pm for half day and until 17:30 pm for full day. Children should be at school by 8: 30 am in order to complete the morning activities and attend Playball.
Early Drop-Offs

The teachers are employed from 7: 30 am to set up the classrooms before the arrival of the children. Should you need to drop your child before 7:30 am, please make a special arrangement with the office. If there is any change in the usual fetching arrangements, please give permission in writing and inform your child’s teacher as well as the security at the gate (Princess).
Annual Membership Fee

Toiletries, vision and hearing screening, Baker’s Day, innings, hotdog days and photographs are all included in the Annual Membership Fee, payable once a year.
Policy on Children's Health

No child may attend school if he/she is unwell, has an upset stomach or a fever. Children on antibiotics should be kept at home and no medication may be sent to school in the child’s bag.
Lost Property

Please mark everything. We encourage a sense of responsibility in the children. The teachers remind children to place their own belongings in their lockers or bags, but do not do so for them. All unmarked, unclaimed belongings are donated to charity.

Hot Dog Day

Hotdog Day is held once a month on the last Friday of the month or the last day of term. Please keep an eye on the notice boards as the dates may change. Vegetarian sausages are available on request. We need parents to prepare and serve, so please let the teachers know if you are willing to help. The cost is included in the Annual Membership Fee.
Sun Protection
Please send your child to school wearing sunscreen and a sun hat every day . We have a ‘no hat, no outdoor play’ policy. If you require extra sunscreen to be applied, please send ‘roll on” sunscreen in your child’s bag. This is easy for your child to apply. No spray bottles please.
